Body Art
Body Art, as defined in NEHA’s Body Art Model Code, means body piercing, tattooing, branding, scarification, or cosmetic tattooing. Environmental health professionals inspect and regulate body art establishments.
We partner with the AFDO Body Art Committee and the Body Art Education Alliance to support environmental health practitioners and the body art industry with the following initiatives:
- Body Art Facility Inspector Training | Training
- BAMC & Annex | Learn More
- Body Art Resources | Explore Resources
- Active Policy Statements | Current Policy
- Body Art Committee | Learn More
Updated Body Art Model Code Available
The newest version of our Body Art Model Code is now available and ready for your jurisdiction to adopt! Our updated BAMC is the best place to start when updating your jurisdiction's body art regulations. It is the only model code that addresses current body art issues and public health risks.
We have developed a toolkit that outlines a path to BAMC adoption for jurisdictions interested in utilizing the BAMC to develop, update, or enhance their regulations.
