About the Cover
Historically, hotel rooms have been linked with major bacterial and viral outbreaks. While safety measures implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic are no longer enforced by federal, state, or local agencies, many hotels continue to emphasize enhanced cleaning processes. This issue’s cover article explored the efficacy of enhanced cleaning processes by quantifying generic and pathogenic microorganisms before and after cleaning in hotel rooms. The results showed that several areas of the room had higher counts after cleaning, indicating that a more effective method needs to be assessed to ensure environmental safety in hotel rooms.
