2025 Trainings Eligible for CY 2025 Training Optional Add-On and Grant (Tracks 2 and 3)

Track 1 Development Base applicants have the option to utilize the Training Optional Add-On (within the Track 1 Development Base Application) to attend one or more of the following trainings: Self Assessment and Verification Audit (SA VA) Workshops, FDA Retail Food Protection Seminars, or the Conference for Food Protection (CFP). These are the only eligible trainings for Track 1.

Following are some of the training options available for Track 2 and Track 3 applicants in 2025 that are eligible for funding through a CY 2025 Training Optional Add-On (within the Track 2 Development Base or Track 3 Maintenance and Advancement Base Grant application).

2025 Face-to-Face Workshops and Conferences

In 2025, the following workshops and conferences are scheduled to be held in person:

  • NACCHO Preparedness Summit: San Antonio, TX, April 29 - May 2
  • Food Safety Summit: Rosemont, IL, May 12 - 15
  • AFDO Annual Educational Conference: Dallas, TX, June 21 - 25
  • IAFP Annual Meeting: Cleveland, OH, July 27 - 30
  • NEHA Annual Education Conference: Phoenix, AZ, July 14 - 17
  • NACCHO 360 Annual Conference: Anaheim, CA, July 14 - 18
  • Conference for Food Protection: Denver, CO, March 24 - 28 (Note: for CY 2025, Track 1, Track 2 and Track 3 applicants may apply for funding to attend this conference)
  • FDA Retail Food Safety Seminars (Note: for CY 2025, Track 1, Track 2 and Track 3 applicants may apply for funding to attend these FDA seminars)

2025 NEHA and AFDO Face-To-Face Deliveries of FDA Retail Food Courses

In 2025, the following FDA Retail Food Courses are scheduled to be held in person. The courses below can be included in a CY 2025 Track 2 Development Base Grant or Track 3 Maintenance and Advancement Base Grant Training Optional Add-On.

Training-Related Costs

Training Optional Add-On Grants offer reimbursement-based support for training-related costs such as registration fees, online course fees, materials, air travel, baggage, car rental and other transportation costs, lodging, parking fees, mileage, and meals. Receipts will be required for all travel expenses except for meals, which will be reimbursed on a federal per diem (or prevailing agency) basis.

Personnel costs (salaries and fringe benefits dedicated to an approved project) are not permissible for Training Optional Add-Ons or Grants. This includes funds for staff to attend ORAU and other online training courses.
