About the Cover

Contractors who perform work on residential structures constructed prior to 1978 may be subject to federal regulations pertaining to lead-based paint. The most stringent of the regulations requires that floor surfaces must be cleaned to a lead level of 40 μ/ft^2 or less. In this issue’s cover feature, “Machine Versus Man: Can Robotic Mops Clean to Lead Safety Standards?,” the authors evaluated the effectiveness of using a robotic mop as the “wet-wash” component of the recommended three-step cleaning process. In this age-old contest, does technology reign supreme or does man come out on top?
