About the Cover
In May 2023, a legionellosis outbreak was identified among attendees of the same church. This issue’s cover article explores the epidemiologic, environmental, and laboratory investigations that were initiated in response to this outbreak. Environmental sampling was crucial in identifying the baptismal font as the likely outbreak source. Increased awareness of legionellosis risks and the importance of water management is needed among faith-based organizations. Furthermore, public health agencies need to foster partnerships with communities, engineering professionals, and plumbing professionals to help prevent these types of outbreaks.
