Environmental Public Health Disaster Readiness & Resilience Training
This comprehensive program equips environmental public health professionals with the critical skills needed to protect and promote health before, during, and following a disaster.
Modules
The training workshops include three comprehensive modules:
- Safe and Effective Community-engaged Vector and Rodent Control in Disasters: This module provides essential information for vector control and pest management during emergencies. Participants will learn integrated pest management (IPM) principles, identify common vectors, and understand their roles in emergency response.
- Cross-sector Collaboration for Disaster Shelter Operations: Strengthening Environmental Public Health Services Delivery for Displaced Populations: This module highlights the role of environmental public health professionals in maintaining safe shelters during disasters. Participants will learn about common shelter issues, key responsibilities, and essential components for safe shelter management. Participants who complete the module will be prepared to help coordinate and manage disaster shelters effectively.
- Strengthening Staff Disaster Resilience: Applied Training Workshop using the Community Resilience Module: This module discusses the groundbreaking Community Resilience Module approach to trauma response and disaster preparedness. It supports first responders and community members with practical tools for self-care and mutual support. The innovative Community Resilience Model not only aids in immediate crisis management but also serves as a long-term strategy for building resilient communities, while effectively reducing the stigma often associated with traumatic experiences.
