Environmental public health professionals play a vital role in emergency response and recovery. To perform effectively, our workforce must not only understand the technical aspects of environmental health but also be adept at working within the emergency response system.
With the increasing frequency and intensity of disasters, it is more important than ever for the workforceto receive proper training. Our guest speaker, Captain Mark D. Miller, a decorated ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Officer, retired from the United States Public Health Service, will share his extensive expertise in emergency response. As the former Lead Instructor for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½
Training in Emergency Response (EHTER) Operations Course, Captain Miller will discuss the critical need for the workforce to be prepared and ready to respond to various events, including outbreaks of environmentally related diseases, public health crises, natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and more.
A panel of experienced responders and trainers will provide valuable information on current training opportunities, in-service training resources, and innovative methods to integrate emergency response into daily program activities, including:
