Dr. Dyjack Shares the Dangers of PFAS with the Observer

PFAS contamination has quietly become one of the biggest public health threats of our time. Commonly known as "forever chemicals," these substances are linked to cancer, thyroid disease and liver damage, yet they remain widely used in countless everyday products. Their near-indestructible nature makes cleanup incredibly difficult, and exposure is often highest in low-income communities near industrial sites and military bases.

Dr. David Dyjack, executive director of NEHA, warns that while the risks of PFAS have been overlooked for years, the crisis is now reaching a tipping point. With new laws like Minnesota’s Amara’s Law leading the way, Dyjack stresses that stronger policies and public awareness are critical to preventing long-term health and environmental consequences.
