Contra Costa County's Health Services Department is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Director of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Services. The Assistant Director assists in the planning, administrating, directing and coordinating of programmatic and administrative activities in the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Division. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing and making recommendations on the data management system, organizational issues, financial management, and division policies and procedures. In addition, this role may act for the Director of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, in the Director's absence. The department currently has a vacancy located in Concord, CA.

In general, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is the prevention, preservation, and improvement of environmental factors affecting the health and safety communities. Contra Costa ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Division's mission is to protect and promote the health of people throughout Contra Costa County through programs for safe food, safe water for drinking and recreation, and the sanitary management of wastes.

The incumbent may be required to travel to various locations within Contra Costa County.

Qualifications

License Requirement: Possession of a valid certificate or registration as an ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Specialist issued by the State Department of Health Services. Possession of a valid California motor vehicle operator's license. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator's license will be accepted during the application process.


Experience: Five years of full-time experience or its equivalent as an ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Specialist in an agency involved with environmental health, regulations and enforcement of which at least two years included supervisory or management responsibility.

Substitution: Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in environmental health, public health, health science, public administration or a closely related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. No substitution is allowed for the required supervisory experience
