About the Cover
Preparation for post-hurricane mosquito control is essential for an effective emergency response to protect public health and promote recovery efforts. This issue’s cover article, “Operational Insights Into Mosquito Control Disaster Response in Coastal North Carolina: Experiences With the Federal Emergency Management Agency After Hurricane Florence,” is timely as hurricane season in the U.S. runs from June to November, with August to October being the peak months for tropical storms. The article provides practical advice to plan, prepare, and implement a successful ground- and aerial-based mosquito control response.
