Water mist systems are commonly used to cool public places, but they can be colonized by opportunistic premise plumbing pathogens that cause infections in people. Adequate knowledge of health risks associated with these systems is important to avoid exposing people to these pathogens. This issue’s cover article explores the awareness and knowledge of business owners and environmental health officers regarding the health risks associated with the use of water mist systems in Australia. The study found that a majority of owners and environmental health officers were not aware of the health risks. Furthermore, it was reported that there are no regulations for the installation and operation of these systems.
